Yawning is common and involuntary, mainly when you are bored or tired. And that’s fine. However, when you are yawning frequently or excessively on a daily basis, then you want to check in with yourself to see why, and when you can’t understand what’s triggering your yawning, it’s time to see your doctor.

The focus for this blog is on sleep or the lack of as a factor of excessive yawning. Inadequate or sleeping disorder correlates to an increase in yawning, as the brain and body in general are not rested, fatigued, or generally tired. The importance of sleep can not be overemphasized. Some adults sleep for 5 to 6 hours and they feel well rested, others may need 7 hours of sleep to achieve same level of rest, while others may need 8 or more hours of sleep for their body and brain to reset and be refreshed for the next day. Do you know what your minimum feel-good- reset-for- the next day sleep hours is?
Therefore, be conscious of your yawning pattern and decide if you need more sleep or something else that needs a deeper investigation by your doctor is going on there.
Cheers and live healthy daily.
