It’s that Time of the Year Again!

A season of Plenty of food and laughter

Are you looking forward to the holidays with excitement or trepidation? What are you most concerned about for the holidays? For example, gaining extra calories and losing all the great work you have done over the last 12 months ? Or just stressed out with all the holiday activities? Or simply looking forward to resting and relaxing with family and/or friends?

I sincerely hope the last example is where you sit. However, if the first and second examples are your concern(s), not to worry I am here to support you as usual, because I am on the health and wellness journey with you; remember?

Here are some simple real-life tips to enjoy the holidays while still maintaining your health and wellness goals for the year.

  1. Take on  only the activities you enjoy to avoid feeling stressed out while doing them.
  1. If you are able to multitask; that is all well and great! However, if multitasking stresses you out, then take on one activity at a time and ask for help from your family and/or friends as needed.
  1. Enjoy the variety of foods but be deliberate about the blend or mix of food choices you make, so that at the end of the holidays, your natural foods neutralizes the processed foods you may consume.
  1. Include a lot of leisurely physical activities in your holiday; especially dancing! This will help burn out the extra calories you consume, while helping you de-stress by releasing your feel-good hormones.
  1. Do not forget to take some time to reflect on what went well and what did not in the last 12months and plan to re-strategise for improvement in the coming year.
